Tram cars to war: In times gone by, soldiers marched to the battle fields, or travelled on horseback, trains or trucks.
But during the 1916 Rising, some of the Volunteers simply cycled into the city on their bikes, others just hopped on to one of the many trams which criss-crossed Dublin in those days, on their way to the General Post Office in Sackville Street.

Born in 1952, Jennifer Lane has worked at the Graphic Studio Dublin since the early 1970s. She specialises in woodblock printing and has exhibited widely in Ireland and abroad.
